Homework Information
Homework: Daily homework includes practicing sight and spelling words, as well as reading with and to your child for 20 minutes.  First grade math students will also have homework Monday-Thursday.

Spelling: Spelling lists will come home every week in Friday folders.  These are words that are part of our Reading Street curriculum.  Students will be tested on these words every Friday.

Sight Words: Individual sight word lists will be sent home every week in Friday folders. Please practice these lists with your student.  Sight word tests will be given every Thursday.

Math: Students will have math homework Monday-Thursday, unless we have a math test that day. Please read and check the homework with your child and return the folder each day.  The first lessons of a unit are easier with it gradually getting more complex by the end of the unit.  Math tests will cover the content students practiced both in class and on their homework.  Fridays we will be focusing on fact practice.  As the year progresses, the students will be having timed fact tests on Fridays.

Science/Social Studies: Some of the units of study in these subjects will have a test at the end. Review sheets will come home in the Friday folder.

School-wide project: On Halloween the entire school does a Day of the Notable project. More information about this project will come home in the Friday folder and will be discussed with parents at conferences.
