General Information
Friday Folders: Thank you for reading the information included in your child's Friday Folder. Please review the folder content each week and return the empty folder each Monday. The Excel Files newsletter and as many forms as feasible will be sent electronically.

Volunteers:  We welcome volunteer help in the classroom. Please think about what day of the week and time works best in your schedule and we will try to work it into our schedule. We are in particular need of volunteers during guided reading (8:30-10:00) and for a helper who can commit the same day each week to administer sight words. We are also looking for parents to commit to every Friday afternoon to do Friday Folders. To facilitate volunteer sign-up, we use a program called Sign-Up Genius.Watch for an email within the next couple weeks explaining this online program. Thanks in advance.

Snack: We have snack time every afternoon. Please send healthy snacks from the recommended list in the handbook that your child can eat quickly as snack time is only 10 minutes. Children are not allowed to share snacks.

Water Bottles: Remind your child to take his/her water bottle home each Friday to clean. Please send only pull-up tops your child can open and close independently.

Library: We are looking forward to weekly story time and book check-out. Children will be allowed to check out two books for a week.  Overdue books will prevent your child from checking out additional books.  Lost books are the parents' responsibility to pay for.

Specials: Your child will have Art, Spanish, PE, Music and Library/Technology on a five-day rotation.

Items from Home: Toys and other items that are distractions are not allowed at school. Please make sure your child is not bringing items to school as they get lost, broken, etc. and interfere with learning. Periodically, teachers assign homework that requires students to bring in items from home. Parents will be notified of those occasions and the rules regarding those specific items. Although show and tell is not a regular part of our curriculum, children have the opportunity to practice their oral language skills in various ways within the curriculum.

Scholastic Book Orders: Parents can order from a variety of Scholastic book clubs throughout the year. Watch for Scholastic catalogs periodically in Friday Folders.
